Tom Trybull and Barry Douglas Join Blackburn Rovers on Loan

Blackburn Rovers have announced the arrivals of midfielder Tom Trybull and full-back Barry Douglas.

Both join Rovers on season-long loan deals and become Blackburn’s sixth and seven signings of this transfer window.

Trybull arrives from Norwich City having fallen down the pecking order at Carrow Road, while Douglas joins from Leeds United in search of game time having not featured for Leeds in the Premier League.

Both Will Stay at Ewood Park for the Rest of the Season

Trybull is a combative midfielder who has an eye for goal. The German international has fallen down the pecking order at Norwich, though. He was one of several players told they could find new clubs in July following their relegation from the Premier League.

He helped Norwich secure promotion from the Championship in the 2018/19 season, so will certainly be a good addition to the Rovers midfield.

As well as the arrival of Trybull, Douglas also becomes a Blackburn player. The Scottish international has struggled to make an impression at Leeds since joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers last summer. He moves across the Pennines in search of game time and another crack at promotion.

He will compete with the talented Amari’i Bell and Joe Rankin-Costello for the starting place in the Rovers team. Douglas is no stranger to the back three set-up which has been used on occasion by Tony Mowbray. Douglas brings pace, creativity and solidity to the Blackburn team.

Signings of Intent From Blackburn Rovers

It’s been a strong start to the season for Blackburn. Mowbray’s team have collected seven points from their first five games and find themselves in the Championship top six.

They are the division’s leading scorers and they could be amongst the promotion contenders this season. The signings of Trybull and Douglas emphasise their ambitions for the rest of the season.
