Leeds United Fans Wildly Celebrate Late Winner to Beat Birmingham City

Nine-Goal Thriller

The result sends Marcelo Bielsa’s side top of the Championship ahead of their top-two battle at West Brom on Wednesday.

Leeds were involved in a hugely entertaining nine-goal thriller at St Andrew’s as both sides battled for points.

Wes Harding netted an injury-time own goal to cause the visiting Leeds fans to erupt into jubilant celebrations.

Leeds fans thought they were going to have an early ride in the Midlands when Helder Costa and Jack Harrison gave them a 2-0 lead after 21 minutes.

But 16-year-old Jude Bellingham reduced the arrears before the break; Lukas Jutkiewicz levelled the tie six minutes into the second half.

Luke Ayling fired Leeds back in front eight minutes later but Jeremie Bela equalised for a second time.

Stuart Dallas restored Leeds’ lead on 84 minutes, only for Jutkiewicz to score early in stoppage time, before the dramatic winner came in unfortunate circumstances.

Leeds goalscorer Dallas, said afterwards: “It’s definitely one of the craziest games I’ve been involved in. So much emotion.

“We just had to step up and grind it out and hope that was it, but they just kept scoring.

“I’m just glad I was playing in it rather than watching it, but the crowd have definitely got their money’s worth.

“The games are coming thick and fast now. We now have West Brom in three days’ time, which is obviously going to be a massive game but we just have to concentrate on ourselves.”

Harding’s own goal, in the fifth minute of added time, sent the 1,980 visiting supporters wild.
