Transfer Rumours: Bristol City, Nottingham Forest, Salford City and More

Forest Interested in Uruguay Striker

Uruguay striker Abel Hernandez is reportedly a target for Nottingham Forest. Tom Leach of Nottinghamshire Live reports that Sabri Lamouchi is interested in the 28-year-old. Hernandez is a free agent following his release from CSKA Moscow.

Hernandez is no stranger to the Championship having impressed while at Hull City. He scored 28 goals in 49 games for the Tigers. Forest are understood to be the only English club interested at present. However, clubs from around the world are sure to be interested too.

Trio Chase Free Agent

According to Owen Cowzer of the Irish Sun, Championship trio Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers and Charlton Athletic are chasing Glenn Whelan. The Republic of Ireland international is a free agent having left Aston Villa this summer.

35-year-old Whelan has reportedly turned down a move to Cyprus and is believed to also be interesting clubs in Scotland. However, he is keen to stay in England. Whelan regained his place in Ireland’s national team under Mick McCarthy this year and wants first-team football.

Transfer Rumours: Bristol City Latest

Bristol City are interested in bringing Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah to Ashton Gate. Krishan Davis of Bristol Live reports that the Robins want the youngster on loan and are willing to pay a loan fee plus his wages. Nketiah is currently with the Gunners on their tour of the USA and recently scored the winner in a friendly against Bayern Munich.

The Robins are also chasing Sheffield Wednesday’s Portuguese striker Lucas Joao. John Evely of Bristol Live believes that City are leading the race should Joao leave. The 25-year-old is chasing more first-team action and could cost around £8 million.

Lincoln and Salford Battle for Defender

League One Lincoln City and League Two new boys Salford City are chasing Mansfield Town captain Krystian Pearce. Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider reports that both clubs want the 29-year-old defender. Pearce is a vital player to Mansfield but is entering the final year of his contract.

Both Lincoln and Salford are keen to strengthen their defensive options and Pearce appears to be their main target. The defender was an ever-present for Mansfield last season as they narrowly missed out on automatic promotion from League Two. His impressive performances earned him a place in the PFA League Two Team of the Year.
