Salomon Rondon’s move to Chinese side Dalian Yifang looks set to trigger a West Bromwich Albion transfer flurry. Salomon Rondon Exit

Salomon Rondon sealed his reunion with Rafa Benitez at Chinese side Dalian Yifang after a successful spell with the Spaniard at Newcastle United. With just one year left on his contract, West Brom were desperate to unload the Venezuelan to raise funds.

Rondon signed for West Brom in 2015 and scored 28 goals in 120 appearances for the club. Albion had a release clause set at £16.5m though it is believed that this has not been met. However, the offer from Dalian Yifang was substantially closer than any English side would offer.

Bilić Warning

One month after the appointment of Slaven Bilić, West Brom played their first pre-season fixture against Spanish side Villarreal. They headed out to Spain with a threadbare squad having lost a host of key players from last season. Craig Dawson and Jay Rodriguez have been sold and six loanees returned to their parent clubs.

Albion had wrapped up just one incoming transfer prior to the fixture, Filip Krovinovic on loan from Portuguese side Benfica. This lead to a thinly veiled warning from Bilić as he urged Albion to get a move on in the transfer market. Claiming that it was ‘crucial’ to sign players in the coming week and with Rondon headed to China, The Baggies made moves.

The West Bromwich Albion transfer activity began immediately as they announced their first permanent signing of the summer. Danish striker Kenneth Zohore signed from Cardiff City for a fee rising to around £8 million depending on add-ons. The 25-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Baggies and will wear the famous number nine shirt.

West Brom have also agreed a deal with Rotherham United for defender Semi Ajayi according to reports. The Nigerian international has amassed more than 100 appearances for Rotherham and could join The Baggies for £1.5m rising to £2.5m with add-ons.
