Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Set to Return in August

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla PWG

Following its final event in December of 2019, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla will be making its anticipated return. On Twitter, PWG made the announcement that it will return on August 1. A few hours before the news broke, the independent wrestling promotion teased the announcement in question. Social media followers were curious as to what this entailed. Many speculated that the promotion was teasing the return of the Battle of Los Angeles tournament, the last one taking place in September of 2019. Specific details regarding PWG’s return have yet to be confirmed.

As stated earlier, August 1 marks the first Pro Wrestling Guerrilla event since late 2019. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, PWG was set to hold its KOBE event on March 29, 2020. However, due to the pandemic, and in an effort to protect wrestlers and fans alike, the event was postponed. PWG remained somewhat active on social media throughout the rest of the year, promoting DVD, t-shirts, and merchandise sales in general.

Founded in 2003, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla is one of the most well-known independent wrestling promotions in history. In fact, many of the wrestlers that fans see today in World Wrestling Entertainment and All Elite Wrestling have passed through PWG. Such wrestlers include, but aren’t limited to, The Young Bucks, Adam Cole, Kenny Omega, Daniel Bryan, Drew McIntyre, and AJ Styles. Furthermore, it brought rise to many memorable tournaments, chief among them being Battle of Los Angeles. Will fans see said tournament’s return in 2021? Stay tuned to Last Word on Sports for details regarding PWG’s return as they become available.
