Matches that Defined Brock Lesnar at WWE WrestleMania

Brock Lesnar will step into the ring with Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42. This will be the Beast Incarnate’s first Mania outing in three years, and fans are anxiously awaiting the colossal dream match. His last appearance at The Show of Shows saw him defeating Omos at Mania 39: Night Two.

As one of the greatest WWE stars of all time, Lesnar has been involved in several high-profile WrestleMania matches. Furthermore, the Beast has main-evented the Grandest Stage of Them All 5 times in his illustrious career. Lesnar is also the “One in 21/1,” ending The Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak.

Although he is a splendid athlete, Lesnar has been involved in quite a few underwhelming bouts at Mania. Nonetheless, he has been a valuable addition to many cards. The Conqueror has also produced some classics that fans rewatch to this day. Here are a couple of honorable mentions:

  • Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose at WrestleMania 32
  • Brock Lesnar vs. Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36: Night Two

On that note, let’s take a look at 5 of the greatest matches of Lesnar at Mania.

#5. Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H in a No Holds Barred Match at WrestleMania 29 (Triple H’s Career Was on the Line)

After losing his first match to John Cena, Brock Lesnar began a feud with Triple H, who served as the COO, after HHH refused to accept Lesnar’s unreasonable demands. They first met at SummerSlam 2012, where Lesnar defeated the Game via submission. However, their story was far from over.

Lesnar targeted Vince McMahon, which prompted the King of Kings to return and take down the Beast. Eventually, a rematch was scheduled for WrestleMania 29, but there was a catch. If HHH lost, he would have to retire from in-ring competition. This stipulation added considerable intrigue to the match.

As for the match itself, it was decent. The history books pay more attention to HHH burning himself during his special entrance, but the No Holds Barred match with Lesnar had its moments. The Game targeted the Beast’s arm, which was a smart move given that Lesnar had previously broken HHH’s arm with the Kimura Lock.

Shawn Michaels’ presence at ringside added more heat to this bout, which felt sloppy at times. Nonetheless, a Pedigree on top of the steel steps was enough to put Lesnar away for the three-count and save the Cerebral Assassin’s career.

Given that it was Lesnar’s first Mania match in nearly a decade, the WWE Universe was expecting more. Instead, Vince McMahon ran the simple “long Triple H WrestleMania match” formula with him.
