The rivalry between John Cena and AJ Styles became one of the best trilogies in WWE history. There was a lot at stake for Cena in his WWE Championship match with the Phenomenal One at the 2017 Royal Rumble. Moreover, Styles bested Cena in their two previous encounters at Money in the Bank 2016 and SummerSlam 2016. However, Cena relishes a challenge, and a record-equaling 16th world title reign was in his sights.
Unquestionably, Cena and Styles’ WWE Championship match stole the show. By far the best match of the night, and fans were in awe. Cena and Styles pulled out all of the stops, and multiple AAs were enough for Cena to clinch his record-equaling 16th WWE world championship.
