GCW Tournament of Survival 7

The GCW Tournament of Survival 7 marks the seventh time that Game Changer Wrestling has gathered competitors from around the world for a grueling endurance. Longtime fans of the ToS will know what to expect heading into the show this Saturday, live from The Showboat in Atlantic City, New Jersey. For the uninitiated, the ToS is a multi-round tournament where matches feature everything from steel chairs to light tubes to panes of glass and everything in between. Nothing is off-limits as these 8 competitors fight their way to victory. Take a deep dive into the action to expect this weekend.

Tournament of Survival 7 Opening Round Matches

  • Drew Parker vs. Cole Radrick
  • Hoodfoot vs. Rina Yamashita
  • Matt Tremont vs. SLADE
  • Toru Sugiura vs. Shane Mercer

Drew Parker vs Cole Radrick

Drew Parker vs. Cole Radrick

In one of the opening round matches of the GCW Tournament of Survival 7, “The Urchin Prince” Drew Parker goes one on one with “The Raddy Daddy” Cole Radrick. To say that these men are familiar with the deathmatch style of wrestling would be an understatement. Parker has become known for his propensity for pain in both the United States and abroad; this former GCW Ultraviolent Champion’s continued work in Big Japan Pro-Wrestling has led him to the BJW Deathmatch Heavyweight Championship on 2 occasions. Meanwhile, Radrick has competed in two GCW Acid Cup tournaments, and though he never made it past the semifinals, his determination was undeniable. As these two men head into their first-ever Tournament of Survival, it should go without saying that this opening contest is either man’s to win.

Hoodfoot vs Rina Yamashita GCW Tournament of Survival 7

Hoodfoot vs. Rina Yamashita

West meets East at the GCW Tournament of Survival 7 as the deathmatch powerhouse Hoodfoot squares off with “The Deathmatch Amazon” herself, Rina Yamashita. Though Hoodfoot has competed in a number of deathmatch tournaments, including last year’s King of the Deathmatch in Xtreme Pro Wrestling, this will be his first under the Game Changer Wrestling banner. Yamashita enters the seventh ToS with a bit of experience under her belt, having competed in the Nick Gage Invitational 6 this past November, falling to Atticus Cogar in the first round. This first-time singles encounter has promise; while Hoodfoot is a powerhouse competitor, as mentioned earlier, Yamashita has stepped up against a number of such hard-hitting opponents, putting forth formidable performances on a regular basis. Expect no different heading into the show this Saturday.

Matt Tremont vs SLADE GCW Tournament of Survival 7

Matt Tremont vs. SLADE

Matt Tremont, one of only two returning Tournament of Survival competitors for this year, squares off with SLADE in another punishing opening-round match. On paper, Tremont is a favorite to win the entire tournament; consider the fact that he’s a former GCW Tag Team Champion alongside H8 Club teammate Nick Gage. Just as importantly, however, he competed in the second ToS, not to mention 3 Nick Gage Invitational Tournaments, winning the second ever in 2017. SLADE can be considered a wildcard contender, never one to back down from even the fiercest of fights. This Create a Pro Wrestling alumnus won his ToS7 qualifying match this past April at GCW In Too Deep, defeating Sawyer Wreck. SLADE could very well go all the way, but the imposing obstacle of Tremont stands in his way.

Toru Sugiura vs Shane Mercer

Toru Sugiura vs. Shane Mercer

Toru Sugiura of Pro Wrestling FREEDOMS will also be in action in the GCW Tournament of Survival 7, taking on Shane Mercer in the final of the 4 announced opening-round contests. Sugiura competed in many tournaments in his home promotion of FREEDOMS, even winning 2016’s Lottery One-Day Six-Man Tag Tournament. “The Man Who Carves Hearts” is also entering this tournament as a former King of FREEDOM World Champion and 2x King of FREEDOM Tag Team Champion. Mercer, however, is not only a former ToS competitor, having competed in the fifth tournament under said banner, but he fought in Nick Gage Invitational and Acid Cup tournaments as well. “The Iron Demon” possesses a strong look and a solid combination of strength and agility. These factors could aid him throughout ToS7, but a game Sugiura stands in his way.

GCW Tournament of Survival 7 will take place in Atlantic City, New Jersey on June 4, 2022.
