Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s Battle of Los Angeles 2022 has just gotten a little more badass. Per the company’s official Twitter account, JD Drake will be participating in the upcoming PWG BOLA 2022, being the thirteenth competitor announced for the tournament in question. Despite being a seasoned competitor in his own right, this is the first time that Drake has competed in a BOLA tournament. 2022’s tournament will take place across 2 days: January 29 and 30. What To Know About “The Blue Collar Badass”
Hailing from Shelby, North Carolina, JD Drake is a well-traveled competitor in the professional wrestling business. Most wrestling fans may best know him for his various appearances on All Elite Wrestling programming. He started making appearances for the company this past February, not only on AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation, but the flagship program, AEW Dynamite. During this time, he found allies in Ryan Nemeth, Cezar Bononi, and “Pretty” Peter Avalon; together, the four-man group became known as The Wingmen. The group can be seen in AEW today, facing off against such teams as The Varsity Blonds and The Dark Order.
Outside of AEW, JD Drake is a mainstay on the independent scene, working for promotions along the lines of ACTION Wrestling and Limitless Wrestling. Drake also made his fair share of appearances for PWG in 2021. At this past November’s It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll) event, he teamed with Anthony Henry in a losing effort against PWG World Tag Team Champions Brody King and Malakai Black. The accolades Drake achieved, on the independent scene, include an EVOLVE Wrestling Tag Team Championship reign alongside Henry and a 258-day reign as World Wrestling Network Champion.
