What to Know About “The Man of the Hour”

Despite being a first-time Battle of Los Angeles competitor, Lio Rush doesn’t lack tournament experience. Since 2020, “The Man of the Hour” has been a notable competitor in New Japan Pro-Wrestling endurances, specifically the 2020 Super J-Cup and this year’s New Japan Cup USA. In terms of tournament victories, Rush is perhaps most notable for winning Ring of Honor’s Top Prospect Tournament in 2016; other competitors in this tournament included Colby Corino and Punisher Martinez, the latter of whom WWE fans will know better as Damian Priest.

Currently, Lio Rush is signed to All Elite Wrestling, having officially inked a deal this past September. He first appeared for the promotion this past May at Double or Nothing, entering the Casino Battle Royale as the surprise “Joker” participant. Since then, he’s been involved in a feud with Team Taz, Dante Martin in particular. Prior to AEW, Rush saw modest success in WWE, winning the NXT Cruiserweight Championship. In terms of independent wrestling success, “The MOTH” may best best known for his time in Combat Zone Wrestling, winning the CZW World Heavyweight Championship once and Wired Championship twice.
