AC Milan Are Inquiring About Young Tottenham Hotspur Midfielder

AC Milan Are

AC Milan are asking Tottenham Hotspur about the availability of young Senegalese midfielder Pape Matar Sarr on a possible loan, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. The Rossoneri met with Tottenham’s Fabio Paratici considering the loan of Japhet Tanganga as well. During that meeting, Milan probed on Sarr as well after his solid campaign for Ligue 1 side Metz last season. Sarr was also recently awarded the CAF 2022 Men’s Young Player of the Year.

A Promising Midfielder

Milan are searching for midfield reinforcements after losing Franck Kessie this summer. The Ivorian star is heading to FC Barcelona. This leaves Milan with Sandro Tonali, Ismael Bennacer, Yacine Adli, and Tommaso Pobega as the primary options in the midfield. Although that’s decent depth, Milan are looking to compete in Serie A and the Champions League this season and will need more talent. The club is also in the running for Lille star Renato Sanches.

Sarr is primarily a central midfielder but has also shown versatility playing in more defensive and advanced roles. Milan manager Stefano Pioli loves versatile players, especially those who are young and growing, so Milan’s interest makes sense. With that being said, Milan are looking to bring in the player on loan.

The 19-year-old scored a goal and provided three assists in 33 Ligue 1 matches last season. The season before that, Sarr scored three goals in 22 league matches.

He’s a solid short-term fix for Milan’s midfield issue, and perhaps Milan can swoop a double loan deal for Sarr and Tanganga.
