Black Cats to Face Competition for Tottenham Hotspur Striker

Sunderland’s pursuit of at least one new striker has intensified over the summer. With last season’s top scorer Ross Stewart the only first-team forward at Alex Neil’s disposal, new additions are needed ahead of the new season.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Troy Parrott has been heavily linked with a move to Wearside this summer. According to i sport, an offer has been submitted for the Republic of Ireland international. The offer likely made will be a loan deal; however, this has yet to be confirmed.

Alex Neil could face competition for the striker according to the report with several Championship clubs interested.

Should Spurs loan the forward out again, they will be hoping that he can step up to the Championship following a season at MK Dons in League One. Despite a full season, Parrott was mainly played as a number 10 or as a winger whereas Spurs would prefer him to be the main striker either on his own or with a partner.

A move to Sunderland could benefit all parties. The Black Cats need a striker and have shown in the past that they can develop youngsters when they have been on loan. The player would be playing in front of large crowds at the Stadium of Light with more than 31,000 season cards already sold. The experience he would gain could be invaluable.

Troy Parrot Could Be Set for Fourth Loan Deal

Troy Parrott is no stranger to a loan away from Tottenham. Three times he has moved to another club to gain experience.  He was first sent to Millwall initially on a season-long loan. However, after two injuries and 14 appearances, he was recalled. He was almost immediately sent back out on loan this time to League One club Ipswich Town where he would score his first senior goal.

A season-long loan at MK Dons followed where he would help them finish third in League One, narrowly missing out on automatic promotion. During his time at Stadium MK, Parrot played 47 times in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists.

Nathan Broadhead Latest: Striker Heading Back to England Following Disappointing Everton Tour

Nathan Broadhead’s Everton career seemingly became a little clearer following their pre-season tour to the USA. The forward failed to make Frank Lampard’s squad for their first game against Arsenal and again did not feature as they were defeated by Minnesota United despite the Toffees boss using 23 players during the game.

A Sunderland fan at the Everton v Minnesota United game asked Broadhead about a possible return to the Stadium of Light. You can watch the response in the link above.

Broadhead was a success on Wearside last season, scoring 10 goals in 15 starts and a total of 13 goals in 27 appearances despite missing a large part through injury.

It was understandable that Everton boss Frank Lampard would want to take a closer look at the player; however, despite struggling in the forward department themselves following the departure of Richarlison, Broadhead failed to make an appearance in the USA.

24-year-old Broadhead has just 12 months left on his current contract. It is therefore unlikely that Everton would allow him to move on loan again unless another contract was agreed upon.
