It’s official, Manchester United will lose midfielder Paul Pogba when his current contract runs out in June, with Juventus and Manchester City among the clubs circling. This is a major boost for any club interested in signing the 29-year-old, as it is now official that they will not have to pay a transfer fee on top of what will undoubtedly be enormous wages.
United reported: “Once a Red, always a Red. Thank you for your service, Paul Pogba”. Pogba joined the red devils in the summer of 2016 for €100 and now leaves Old Trafford for free for the second time in his career.

Paul Pogba’s Time in Manchester
Pogba will leave Manchester this summer for pastures new. The Frenchman arrived in the summer of 2016 from Juventus, returning to the club he left as a boy. A big name with incredible talent, United fans were over the moon to sign such a player and for that player to be one of their own. Pogba’s time at the Theatre of Dreams was filled with ups and downs though.
Between his return to Manchester and the present day, he has created more chances (231) and provided more assists (38) in the Premier League than any other Manchester United player.
Pogba did have some problems at United, most importantly with old coach Jose Mourinho with whom he had a famous falling out. Moreover, he has suffered some major injury blows, and coupled with inconsistent form this led to his playing time becoming fairly limited, certainly not what you would expect for the club’s record signing.
Pogba’s Options
Juventus
Most notably, a return to Juventus is a real option for Pogba with the two sides having already discussed the possibility. After leaving the Italian giants in 2016 under then-coach Massimiliano Allegri it would make sense that with the Italian boss back in Turin, Pogba would also come back.
The midfielder had his breakout campaign at Juventus and made a name for himself in Serie A after United let him go the first time around. Juventus need a couple of signings to put themselves back on top of Serie A and back in the conversation for the Champions League.
Manchester City
Pogba has already refuted claims he will join Manchester City, and his mind has not changed on the matter. That said, the Premier League champions do need to strengthen their midfield this summer and signing a graduate from their arch rivals’ academy could be particularly sweet for them.
