Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe could be set to extend his stay in the French capital. The 22-year-old has entered his final year on his current contract with Real Madrid keen to sign the forward. However, according to The Atheltic, Kylian Mbappe’s mother has confirmed that her son is in talks with PSG over a new contract. “We are in talks with PSG right now and it’s going well. I even spoke to Leonardo last night (Monday). But will we reach an outcome? One thing is sure: he will give his all right up until the end to win the Champions League.”

French Star Came Close to Leaving During the Summer

Spanish giants Real Madrid made little secret of their desire to sign one of the world’s best players during the last transfer window. Madrid were willing to spend big on the forward with their last bid coming close to £200 million. However, PSG were unwilling to do business and Mbappe stayed to form the lethal partnership with Lionel Messi and Neymar.

PSG, now that talks over a new deal have begun, will be keen to tie down Mbappe for as long as possible or risk losing him for free next summer if talks break down. Should there be any sign that Kylian Mbappe’s contract talks are stalling, then Madrid will undoubtedly pounce as soon as they possibly can.

Mbappe Wants Competitive Team and Trophies

The forward, now in his fifth season in Paris, has scored an impressive 136 goals since he moved from Monaco, and has won everything he can domestically in France. However, the one trophy he wants, and the one that has eluded him and PSG is the Champions League.

His mother, who along with his father and lawyer look after any future move added: “One thing is sure: he will give his all right up until the end to win the Champions League.

“Kylian needs to feel satisfied. If he’s unhappy, he is capable of telling you: ‘I’m stopping my career’. And he says that to us often, actually [smiles]. “With Kylian, it can all change from one day to the next.”

Kylian Mbappe’s Contract Talks: PSG Now More Competitive Than Ever

To say that PSG had a successful summer transfer window would be an understatement. They kept hold of Mbappe and brought in superstars Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos and Gini Wijnaldum. They now have the most decorated and lethal front three in the world, have improved their midfield, defence and goalkeeper. If PSG are to succeed in the Champions League, this could be the best chance they will ever have.

Having improved the team, president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: “I think everybody knows the future of Kylian, people from Paris and the players.

“He is a really competitive player. He wants to win, he wants to win trophies, he said it in public. He wanted a competitive team and I think we have got the most competitive in the world. So there is no excuse for him now. He can’t do anything else but stay.”
