Sergio Ramos Completes Paris Saint-Germain Move

Sergio Ramos

Sergio Ramos has officially completed his move to Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. Previously of Real Madrid, Ramos failed to come to an agreement on a new contract before leaving as a free agent. The news came as a huge surprise when considering the defender’s legend status at the club having spent 16 years at the club.

Many believed he was certain to retire at the Bernabeu, but it wasn’t to be. Instead, Florentino Perez, football’s newest villain, decided that Ramos was no longer fit for purpose- leaving him with Raphael Varane, who has also been linked with a move away, as his top centre-back.

The Leader That PSG

Over the years, PSG have accumulated star after star, creating a team of the very best players, from Neymar to Kylian Mbappe. Yet, despite all of those stars, they have continued to fail in their pursuit for football’s biggest prize in the Champions League trophy. And perhaps that’s down to a lack of experience; a lack of leadership.

That’s where Ramos comes in. The Spaniard can guide the French side; mould them into an unstoppable force and step up when a last minute winner is needed as he did so many times in Madrid. Add Georginio Wijnaldum into the mix as well and you’ve got yourself a couple of big game players.

With the squad they have, PSG should have little trouble in reaching their goals next season, both in Ligue 1 and the Champions League. It could be a must-win year for the club, too, with Mbappe into his final year of his contract. As things stand, the forward will leave as a free agent next summer.

If Paris Saint-Germain secure the Champions League, Kylian Mbappe could be convinced to stay put in France, however.
