Chelsea Boss Thomas Tuchel Wants Christian Pulisic to Stay at Club

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel wants to keep Christian Pulisic at the club this summer according to ESPN, despite rumours that he is out of favour with the Blues.

Tuchel Wants Christian Pulisic to Remain at Chelsea

Struggled for Gametime at Stamford Bridge This Season

In this campaign, the USA international has played in just 15 games for Chelsea and made just nine league starts. He’s still managed two goal contributions during those appearances so far but it is a lot less than what he managed last season.

He’s also not hit the same heights as he did at Borussia Dortmund yet, but that could arguably come down to how he was played under Frank Lampard and because of this lack of appearances. In fact, in FBRef’s stats book, he has one of the best progressive carry percentages against other wingers and attacking midfielders with 92 per cent.

Yet to Start Under Tuchel in the Premier League

Despite all this, since Tuchel took the reigns at Stamford Bridge, he has found game time even more limited. He is yet to start a Premier League game since the new boss took over, having only started for the side in the FA Cup.

However, Tuchel seems keen to keep hold of the player – although he couldn’t rule out anything happening with him in the summer. As cited by ESPN, Tuchel was asked whether his future was with the Blues. “Yes, today, clearly yes but it is not only my point of view,” he said. “We have to see.”

Tuchel Claims Christian Pulisic has ‘Level to Be Regular Chelsea Player’

“For me, clearly yes because Chelsea bought Christian for a reason, for his quality, for his potential and it is our job to bring out the best in him.

“He proved in many weeks that he has the level to be a Chelsea regular player, to have a big impact in this club.

“It’s a challenge now to hold this level, to improve and to maintain the level and keep improving.”

It seems like Tuchel wants to keep the player at the club – but if clubs start sniffing around him in the summer, who knows whether Tuchel will be able to resist selling the winger.
