Inter Milan could be willing to sell full-back Achraf Hakimi to a Premier League club, according to The Athletic. But a deal won’t materialise until the summer.
Arsenal and Chelsea are among the Premier League sides interested in the Moroccan. An impressive loan spell at Borussia Dortmund caught their eye, but it was Inter who secured a deal last year.
The Gunners didn’t have the cash available to fund a Hakimi transfer, while the Blues believe they currently have too many options in his position.
But Inter’s accounts show a £102 million loss for the last financial year, so they may need to sell to balance the books. This may see both Arsenal and Chelsea revive their interest at the end of the current season.

Hakimi’s Surprise Inter Transfer
Hakimi was signed by the Italians from Real Madrid last summer in a surprise £40 million deal. After impressing on loan at Dortmund, it was expected the Spanish giants would give him a chance in the first team this season.
But that proved to not be the case, as Los Blancos chose to cash in while his stock was high. Plenty of Europe’s elite clubs were interested, but it was the Milan-based side which secured his signature.
Hakimi’s six goals and five assists this season have proven his value. He will be vital in Inter’s Serie A title race, against cross-city rivals Milan. Inter currently sit two points behind, but there is still a long way to go.
Could Hakimi Transfer Save Inter’s Financial Situation?
Under Antonio Conte, Inter have once again become a serious challenger in the Italian league. However, improvements to the squad have come at the cost of financial stability, with huge losses being posted last year.
The coronavirus pandemic will have had a large effect. The same is true for every other club. But a lot of spending in recent times, combined with high wages for some key players, have seen Inter’s expenditure skyrocket.
The Italians could be forced to sell Hakimi, as his departure could go a long way to filling the financial void. The club is likely to at least get their money back, with Hakimi proving over the last few years that he is one of the best in Europe in his position.
It will be one to keep an eye on this summer.
