Brazil Team News
Speaking in the build-up to Brazil vs Morocco, Ancelotti revealed the latest on Neymar’s injury woes:
“Neymar is working very hard to recover as quickly as possible. The expectation is that he will recover and rejoin the group next week.”
Arsenal’s Gabriel has not participated in any of Brazil’s recent games since joining the squad late after his appearance in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain. It’s expected he will still start in defence alongside Marquinhos.
Discussing the decision to call up Ederson after Wesley’s injury, Ancelotti said:
“We brought in Ederson because the doubt when choosing the 26 was whether to call up nine or eight defenders and six midfielders. We chose nine defenders, but I think Danilo and Ibañez give us confidence in that position, so we preferred to strengthen the midfield a little with Éderson, who had a very good end to the season.”
Morocco Team News
Morocco’s squad has been disrupted by injuries, with Nayef Aguerd and Abde Ezzalzouli being cut from the squad after picking up injuries in a friendly. The replacements in the squad were named as Amine Sbai and Marwane Saadane.
There were concerns over captain Achraf Hakimi, but he completed 65 minutes against Norway, boosting Mohamed Ouahbi’s squad. He picked up a thigh injury in the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich, but did play the whole final against Arsenal.
