The Spain preliminary World Cup squad for the 2026 trip to the U.S.A has revealed a 55-man shortlist that will have to be whittled down to just 26 ahead of the tournament itself. The early squad list contains most of the nations heavy hitters with the final squad not expected to be announced until May 25.

There is a pretty vast representation from Barcelona and Athletico Club with Europe’s elite leagues like the Premier League making up the remaining names, Arsenal in particular is home to a few. One of the key batttles for a place will come up front, the Spaniards took Perez and Oyarzabal into the EUROs as their strikers. This time around they have the breakout star Samu Omorodion to weigh up after his impressive stint with Porto.

Many key names from the recent Euro glory are still involved as Simon, Cucurella, Yamal, Rodri, Ruiz, and others are chosen by Luis de la Fuente. The final 26-man squad is likely to closely resemble that of 2024 with a number of the squad members still being in or close to their prime, fringe names like Borja Iglesias, Ferran Jutgla, Cesar Tarrega, and others are expected to fall away.
