Nottingham Forest ‘Reach Agreement’ With European Giants for Player With ‘Wealth of Experience’

Nottingham Forest have had a busy window, particularly in the back-end of the summer after they had to await a CAS decision to confirm their involvement in the UEFA Europa League. Javi Galan Medical in Madrid

With the player currently undergoing his medical in Madrid, fans will be hoping that this will be an easy one to get across the line ahead of the deadline. This should help Forest focus on the many other deals that they have been linked with, for example a move for Adama Traore from fellow Premier League outfit, Fulham.

Is Javi Galan Too Old?

Some fans have criticised the Tricky Trees for signing a 30-year-old, when the current trend both at the City Ground and at various other rising clubs (Bournemouth, Brighton, Brentford) appears to be signing young talent. However, this may not be a bad idea with Forest heading into a season with European football for the first time in almost 30 years, with a squad full of players who have never played in Europe.

Galan was already described as having a “wealth of experience” in the Spanish top flight when he signed for Atleti in 2023, and he has now played over 170 matches in La Liga. At the time he was criticised for having no European experience. He now has ten matches in the Champions League as well as three in the Club World Cup for the continental giants.
