‘Green Light’: Manchester United Seal £200K-P/W Exit After Patrick Dorgu Talks

Manchester United have not been able to seal any new signings in the 2025 winter transfer window to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s squad, but things appear to be moving behind the scenes with a new update on the future of winger Antony.

Manchester United Green Light Antony Loan Move To Real Betis

Details Of Loan Exit

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the winger “travels to Sevilla tonight” to complete a loan move to Real Betis from the Red Devils. He adds that both clubs have given their “green light” to the deal after the necessary documents have been approved by the two clubs for a straight loan move until the end of June, 2025.

It’s also stated that the two clubs have agreed to share the 24-year-old winger’s salary (which is rumoured to be £200,000-a-week!). The La Liga club has not added any option to buy Antony at the end of the season and wants to first see how he performs for them before thinking about the possibility of permanently signing the winger. This loan deal has been approved to ensure that the Brazilian gets more playing time in a new environment after he only managed to score one goal in 14 appearances for the Red Devils this season.

Antony Move Could Potentially Open Up Chance for Patrick Dorgu Signing

Along with the update on Antony’s move, Romano has also added that Manchester United are still in active talks over the possible signing of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce. They reportedly had their first offer for the 20-year-old wingback rejected, but the Premier League side are rumoured to be on the verge of making another offer for his acquisition.

Antony could not really work out in a wingback role in Ruben Amorim’s system and despite making nine appearances under the gaffer, the 24-year-old had zero goal contributions. With just 12 goals and five assists in 96 appearances for the Red Devils since his high-profile move from Ajax in 2022, the Brazilian winger has turned out to be a big flop for them and the Red Devils are now going to look to replace him with someone better.
