Chelsea Team News

Filip Jorgensen starts in goal behind a defence featuring the return of captain Reece James. He plays alongside Tosin Adarabioyo, Axel Disasi, and Renato Veiga. Romeo Lavia is the sole deeper midfielder with an attacking four of Joao Felix, Pedro Neto, Tyrique George, and Christopher Nkunku backing up striker Marc Guiu.

Rob Sanchez is on the bench alongside Levi Colwill, Josh Acheampong, Malo Gusto, Marc Cucurella, Enzo Fernandez, Cole Palmer, Jadon Sancho, and Nicolas Jackson. Very strong bench all things considered from Maresca.

Chelsea Lineup: Jorgensen, Tosin, Disasi, Veiga, James, Lavia, Felix, Neto, George, Nkunku, Guiu

Notable Changes

Surprising returns for both James and Lavia with Disasi getting a start ahead of young Acheampong. Probably the biggest shock here is the lack of youth players with only two feature in the lineup, although both are starting.

The lineup does indicate that the team will be going with the stronger 4-1-4-1 variant of the Italian’s setup meaning Veiga is likely to move into midfield alongside the deep midfielder to allow the front five the freedom to control possession and pin the other team back with a high press.

Morecambe Lineup

Burgoyne, Hendrie, White, Stott, Edwards,Williams, Tollitt, Dackers, Tutonda, Songo’o, Jones

Stay tuned for the Chelsea confirmed lineup. This will have team news as well as discussions and analysis on the major changes made and any possible tactical tweaks we might see.
