Teenage midfielder Gabriel Moscardo has drawn the interest of several prominent clubs in European football. Rumours had been swirling that Chelsea were going to pursue the 18-year-old in January, but journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated that the Blues are cooling their interest in the youngster.

The Italian’s tweet further linked the Brazilian teen to French outfit Paris Saint-Germain. His words about Chelsea, though, were clear. “Understand Chelsea are NOT going to bid for Moscardo as of now.” Scouts for the London-based club had been watching the midfielder, but a move is unlikely to happen this upcoming transfer window.

Chelsea has been bringing in several young players in recent years to try and build a squad that will form a strong team bond. Notably, this summer they beat Liverpool to the signings of Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo. The Blues still sit mid-table in the Premier League and are pursuing a strong performance in their domestic campaign before bidding on Moscardo.

Milo Pope’s Daily Mail article recalled Chelsea’s failed £18 million bid for Moscardo this Summer, but his projection that the club would try again in January has not come to fruition. For now, PSG leads the race to sign the youngster, as Mauricio Pochettino seeks to guide his squad back to a European spot in the English top flight.
