Medical Test Already Booked

Liverpool have been monitoring the Dutch midfielder throughout the transfer window and a deal is now imminent. It is expected that the player’s move to Anfield will be made official on the deadline day of the summer transfer window.

The Merseyside club have reportedly agreed to pay a transfer fee of around £34 million and another £4 million in potential add-ons. The player will sign a five-year deal upon his arrival.

The deal could be a bargain for Liverpool if the midfielder fulfils the potential he displayed in his time with Ajax. Gravenberch was described as ‘“incredibly talented” by Bayern President Herbert Hainer earlier this summer after the club boss initially denied rumours of the 21-year-old’s exit.

David Ornstein has reported that the Dutchman will fly to England in the coming hours and is planning to complete his medicals on Friday. The player is keen to leave the German giants as he wants regular playing time.

The 21-year-old has struggled to adapt to the Bundesliga since his arrival last summer and only made three starts in the entirety of the 2022/23 season.

Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Jurgen Klopp was crucial in the player’s decision to approve the transfer after the German manager convinced the Netherlands international of his sporting project. The journalist also confirmed that the transfer is “a done deal”.

What Will Gravenberch Add to Liverpool’s Midfield?

The six-foot-two midfielder has a strong physical presence that compliments his technical ability. He will provide much-needed robustness and strength to the otherwise technical but physically lacking Liverpool midfield.

The midfielder is versatile and can play multiple positions but his best role is that of a box-to-box midfielder in a double pivot. His skillset allows him to contribute in every phase of the attack right from buildup to the final third.

The Ajax youth academy product is also an exceptional progressor of the ball. A midfield duo of Alexis MacAllister and Gravenberch with Dominik Szoboszlai in a more offensive role could potentially dominate any team in the middle of the park.
