Chelsea Face Competition for Alex Moreno

The Blues have had a very difficult season so far, in which they’ve experienced multiple manager changes with both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter being sacked by Todd Boehly. However, they are focused on building for their future project and signing younger players that can pay off in the long term.

The report adds that Chelsea are not the only team eyeing a possible move for Moreno. Manchester City are also interested in possibly signing him after watching the left-back impress in the league with a rejuvenated Aston Villa side in the second half of the season and getting three assists in 16 Premier League appearances.

The left-back is poised to get a debut call-up to the Spanish national team after doing a solid job under Unai Emery. Chelsea are also seemingly ready to alter their options at the left-back position again, even after having signed Marc Cucurella last season as competition for Ben Chilwell – who recently signed a contract extension with the club.

Chelsea Set for Busy Summer Window

Ever since being taken over by the American owners, Chelsea have splurged heavily on new targets. In the January transfer window itself, they broke their club transfer record to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica. They are reported to be readying themselves to have a busy summer transfer window as well, in which they could spend over £150 million in transfers.

However, the Blues are currently on the hunt for a new permanent manager – who will play a role in deciding their transfers. Chelsea are also ready to sell some of their players to make room in the squad and could reportedly listen to bids for players like Conor Gallagher. That could open up space for the arrival of a player like Moreno, who was hailed for his “brilliant” assist for Ollie Watkins’ goal in the 1-1 draw against West Ham United in March.
