‘Superb Passer’ Set for Chelsea Return Next Season

Colwill has enjoyed an impressive campaign with Brighton & Hove Albion, where he has played 15 times in all competitions. Due to his impressive season, Chelsea look set to bring him back to Stamford Bridge next season, with the club viewing him as an elite prospect. According to the report from Jacobs, Chelsea have a three-year option on the contract, which means they can extend his contract until 2026, thus keeping him at the club for a further year on his current deal.

The 20-year-old defender is highly thought of at Brighton and has received praise from his manager Roberto De Zerbi. Colwill moved to the Amex Stadium on a season-long loan – and despite some injury problems, when he has played, he has looked more than comfortable in the team. De Zerbi has spoken highly of Colwill’s passing ability. “It is an important quality for us because with Levi we can find different line passes, different solutions in the build-up, in the last 40 metres.” The young Englishman has been described as a “super passer.”

What Qualities Colwill Will Bring to Chelsea

Anyone that has watched the centre-back play will attest to how comfortable he is in possession. He would be a great asset to whoever the new Chelsea manager will be. Colwill’s best qualities are his reading of the game and his ability to pick out effective passes. His left foot is like a wand and rarely misses its intended target. Colwill is also strong in the air and wins more than his fair share of headers. Despite being brilliant with the ball at his feet, he is more than adept at getting stuck in when needed. He times his tackles very well and is disciplined for someone still learning his trade. Chelsea have endured a disastrous season, but the return of Colwill will have the Blues fans dreaming of more identity and backbone in their squad for next season.
