‘Almost Done’: Chelsea Closing in on Loan Move for 18-Year-Old ‘Physical Beast’

Chelsea are ready to send young midfielder Andrey Santos on loan to Vasco da Gama, confirms Fabrizio Romano. This is after the Blues had signed the 18-year-old midfielder from the Brazilian club last month and failed to send him on loan to Palmeiras.

Chelsea signed the young Brazilian midfielder to be a part of their ambitious future project and expect him to break into the first team after a few years. That is why they are now looking for possible options as they want him to be playing regular football at a senior level.

Romano adds that Chelsea have already given a green light for Andrey Santos to rejoin Vasco on a loan deal. The Brazil club complete the signing within the next week, with the transfer guru also revealing that medicals “will take place soon.”

The Premier League giants are reported to have initially wanted to send him on loan to Brazilian top division club Palmeiras, but that move collapsed after Andrey Santos was even ready to travel to his country to go through with it. That has left them now looking for other options, with a return to Vasco now looking his most likely destination.

Santos’ Impressive Heroics for Brazil U20

The 18-year-old midfielder had an opportunity to impress Chelsea and help fans realize how talented he is by participating in the U20 South American Championship from January to February. He was one of the best players in the tournament, scoring six goals and providing one assist from central midfield in eight appearances.

His heroics in the competition is the reason for multiple clubs vying for his signature, as it’s now well-known that Santos has the talent to be a major player in the future. He has already received a lot of praise, including encouraging words from ex-Brazil midfielder Juninho – who described him as a ‘physical beast’ and tipped him to be potentially better than he ever was.
