Arsenal Interested in £60 Million Rated Winger Also Linked With Newcastle

Moussa Diaby

Arsenal are keen on a deal that would see Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby move to the Emirates, reports football.london. It is believed a £60 million bid could be enough to secure his services.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta likely believes the Frenchman is the final piece to the young group of attacking players the Gunners are pinning their hopes on this season.

Arsenal Interested in Moussa Diaby Transfer

Fabrizio Romano earlier this week reported that the 23-year-old has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time. However, the German side are reluctant to sell him this summer so it will not be an easy deal. Newcastle had linked earlier this summer but things never progressed.

Diaby appears to be the ‘mystery winger’ Arsenal have been keen on signing since they missed out on former Leeds man Raphinha after he signed for Barcelona in July.

Big Summer of Spending for Arsenal

Arsenal have already recruited heavily this summer. In an attacking sense, they have improved with the signing of Gabriel Jesus. After losing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in the last year, a centre-forward appeared top of the priority list.

A winger now seems the next priority. With Nicholas Pepe seemingly out of favour and his future uncertain, Arteta appears keen to bring in a right-sided forward man to ease the load on Bukayo Saka. Diaby seems to be the man.

Despite the rumours linking him to a move away, Diaby started the Bundesliga opening game at Dortmund this weekend. This comes on the back of a great season last year in Germany where he score 17 goals and managed 14 assists. Last month he was quoted saying he has “made his decision” and will “play for Leverkusen next season” Despite this, Arsenal’s interest remains strong.

End of Window Plans in North London

Arsenal beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in the season opener on Friday night. And despite being amongst the top spenders this summer, they appear to be still active in the market. They have a big squad with a lot of deadwood they hope to get rid of before the end of the window. Hector Bellerin, Pablo Mari and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are some of those headed towards the exit door.

A move for a winger seems likely. Diaby appears the top target but there also is alleged interest in Wolves’ Pedro Neto.

Midfield is another area they would like to strengthen. Despite the summer signings of Fabio Viera and Oleksander Zinchenko, who can both fill that role, a deal to bring Youri Tielemans to the Emirates has been in the works all summer.

With just under a month left of the wind0w, we expect a lot of news out of the Emirates. Despite a win on the opening day, there is a lot still to be done as the Gunners look to break back into the Champions League spots this year.
