Manchester United Set to Complete Plan to Ward Off Interest in Wonderkid Labelled the ‘Next Lionel Messi’

Alejandro Garnacho
Manchester United are going to reward young forward Alejandro Garnacho for his impressive breakthrough 2021/22 season by handing him a new long-term contract in the summer, according to The Times. This comes after Juventus were considering a move for the wonderkid, whose current deal expires next summer. Because of this, United now plan to ward off this interest by offering a new contract to Garnacho, who has been labelled the “next Lionel Messi”.

Alejandro Garnacho to Get New Contract

Garnacho Will Be Rewarded for Last Season’s Heroics

The Argentine winger leapt onto the scene last season at Old Trafford and was one of the shining stars of United under-18s’ FA Youth Cup win. Garnacho has greatly impressed the higher-ups at the club and will get a new and improved deal, with his current contract expiring next year.

The Red Devils are aware that Garnacho could leave as a free agent next summer unless they’re able to secure his future quickly. The youngster is regarded as a highly promising talent with the capability of being a first-team regular soon.

He proved himself to be too good for the youth level last season, embarrassing players of his age group with ease. He scored 7 goals in 6 FA Youth Cup appearances, including twice in the final against Nottingham Forest under-18s. For his heroics, the Argentine winger also won United’s Young Player of the Season award.

The 17-year-old even made his debut for the senior team under Ralf Rangnick and regularly trained with experienced players. His goal-scoring ability and capability with the ball have convinced many fans that he is the next big thing to come out of the academy level.

The Cristiano Ronaldo Factor

United can actually use Garnacho’s admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo to their advantage. They’re well aware of how Garnacho wants to be alongside Ronaldo and play with him for the senior team. The Portuguese winger is likely to stay at United next season and the club could use the prospect of playing alongside him as leverage and influence Garnacho to sign the new deal.

But one thing is assured. Even after Ronaldo is gone, the Argentine winger has the capability of spearheading the attack for many years to come if able to maintain his discipline and grow under Erik ten Hag.
