‘Money is Not a Consideration’: Richard Arnold Reveals Manchester United’s Liberal Summer Transfer Approach in Exciting News for Fans

Richard Arnold

Richard Arnold has revealed an exciting update for Manchester United fans on the summer transfer window. Speaking to a group of supporters at a pub, he said: “Money is not a consideration in who we want. It is that the manager wants him, that they’ve actually done the work on looking that he’s actually a great player”. There are a number of reasons why this is good news for United, with Arnold seemingly learning from the club’s past mistakes to inform their future decisions.

Why Arnold’s Comments are So Important

What the United chief executive said to fans on Saturday is important for a variety of reasons.

Crucially, it shows that United will not be stuck for cash despite their failure to qualify for the Champions League last season. Although the Red Devils’ summer transfer budget was recently revealed to be in the region of £120 million, Arnold suggested he would go significantly over that if it meant not letting a quality player slip.

Also vital, however, is the second part of what he said. Arnold revealed that one of the largest considerations in who United will sign this summer is whether the manager wants him, as well as whether the scouting department have done the work to see if he would be a suitable addition.

This is extremely promising news. While in the past, the Old Trafford hierarchy have looked to sign big names like Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo, and have failed to deliver the boss’ priority targets, this seems set to change. Erik ten Hag‘s opinion will now matter tremendously in the transfer activity that the Manchester club get done this summer, something which will allow him to build around his playing style much more effectively that other managers who have succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson.
