The hopes are high for City Football Group to purchase an Italian club, according to Gianluca di Marzio. City Football Group, of course, is the owner of Manchester City, who of course just completed a major deal for striker Erling Haaland. They also own a number of other clubs throughout the world, such as New York City FC in the United States, Melbourne FC in Australia, Girona in Spain, and more.
City Football Group are attempting to purchase Italian club, Palermo. Palermo is currently in Serie C, the third division of Italian football. With this being said, they were formerly a major factor in Serie A. Dealing with financial issues over the past few seasons has been the issue for the club. As seen with Manchester City, the company can handle any and all financial issues.

Palermo set a Serie C crowd record for this season just this past week, having 26,000 fans at their last match. This, of course, is no coincidence. Palermo fans are aware of the club’s potential purchase and are showing their excitement.
The club holds a record of strong players and developing talent in the past. Names who’ve played for the club in recent years include Paulo Dybala, Edinson Cavani, Javier Pastore, Josip Ilicic, Luca Toni, and Andrea Barzagli. All of these players excelled greatly in their careers, and Palermo played a large role in that.
Palermo was founded in 1900, meaning it has quite a rich history. In addition, the metropolitan area of the city holds a population of about 1.3 million people. This, of course, is quite attractive to investors such as those at City Football Group.
Palermo is yet another Italian club finding its name in the news regarding a potential takeover.
