Bayern Munich Step Closer to Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui Deal

The Bayern Munich board had a meeting with football super-agent Mino Raiola in Monaco to discuss Ajax stars Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui as new signings, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Final details must still be agreed upon, but both players are very close to joining the German giants.

Bayern have been showing concrete interest in Gravenberch for a few weeks now. Mazraoui, however, has been a hot commodity for other clubs as well, including AC Milan and FC Barcelona. As things stand right now, Bayern looks poised to win the race.

The Player Fits

Gravenberch plies his trade as a holding midfielder. At the moment, Bayern holds a number of players in that position. This includes the versatile Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Corentin Tolisso, and Marc Roca.

At first glance, it looks tough for Gravenberch to find his way into regular playing time. Although that may stand to be true, he’s a very talented player who’s only 19-years-old. Bayern constantly swoops in early for young talent and develops those players into stars. Gravenberch may very well be next in line. Should he make the Bayern switch, being a starter in year one is likely out of the question, but his potential to develop jumps a lot higher.

Mazraoui is quite experienced at 24-years-old, shining for Ajax in both the Eredivise and the Champions League. There’s a clear reason why three European giants have been after his signature.

Bayern’s right-back depth includes Benjamin Pavard, Bouna Sarr, and Josip Stanisic. It’s also important to note that Kimmich, although playing in the midfield now, is a former right-back and can certainly fill in. Pavard is the clear-cut starter, and Kimmich performs well in the midfield, so Bayern is clearly chasing a top back-up right-back option with Mazraoui.
