Barcelona Midfielder Sergio Busquets Receiving American Interest

A Historic Player

Busquets played for the Barcelona B squad in the 2007/08 season. After impressing, he made his first-team debut in 2008. Since then, he’s been a massive and constant presence in Barcelona’s midfield.

Yes, the club is currently in a struggle. It cannot be forgotten just how dominant they were in the prior decade. This is due in large part to Busquets. Barcelona had plenty of legends of the game in Lionel Messia, Andres Iniesta, Xavi, and more, but Busquets was always amongst the top players. Busquets’ role was never about racking up statistics, which lessened his popularity to an extent, but he was a crucial piece in the club’s dynasty.

Busquets holds a plethora of trophies to his name. The biggest club accomplishments include eight La Liga titles and three Champions League titles. Other club trophies include seven Spanish Cup trophies, eight Spanish Super Cup trophies, three FIFA Club World Cups, and three UEFA Super Cups. This is, of course, a hefty list of fantastic accomplishments. Busquets holds international glory as well. This list includes a World Cup and a European Championship with Spain.

Barcelona have plenty of veterans and are planning to add more. Due to this, it’s not a guarantee that they’d let Busquets leave. With this being said, they have plenty of midfield talent. A number of them are very young as well. The list includes Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, and Riqui Puig. If he leaves, Busquets has earned his place in Barcelona folklore.
