Big Signing for Club Targetting Back-to-Back Scudetto’s

With Inter Milan surging clear at the top of Italian football, each and every signing they make is a dangerous one for those chasing in behind. To acquire a player like Gosens, who is already accustomed to the league from his time with Atalanta is an absolute coup. Inter lead Serie A by four points with a game in hand on both Napoli and AC Milan – the only two clubs in close proximity to them.

Gosens contributed to 50 goals in his 157 Atalanta appearances, scoring 29 and assisting 21. He now joins a ready-made title-winning side, who already have a relative grip on consecutive gold.

The job that Simone Inzaghi has done since replacing Antonio Conte is fairly remarkable. Losing star players Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku, they have bought shrewdly to replace them and remain the best team in Italy. Fine work from the former Lazio boss.

Gosens has made just eight appearances this season, missing much of it with injury. He did manage to score two and assist one, though.

He starred at Euro 2020 with Germany too, playing in all of their four games as they were eliminated by England in the Last 16. Gosens shined most v Portugal in the group stage when scoring once and assisting twice.

The Germany international managed a brilliant 11 goals and 6 assists in 32 Serie A games last season.
