Romain Faivre Still Interested in Potential AC Milan Switch

What Romain Faivre Has Said

The French talent told Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited by Fabrizio Romano: “I’m getting ready for Milan because when Paolo Maldini calls you it’s something special. I saw the derby and I wanted to be there.”

Clearly, that’s a good sign for Milan as Faivre is making his interest in a move to the club public.

The Player and the Fit

The 23-year-old midfielder is plying his trade for Ligue 1 club Brest.

Brest are struggling domestically. They’re currently sitting at 17th place with 12 points from 13 matches. With that being said, Faivre continues to shine.

In 12 matches, Faivre holds four goals and four assists to his name. He is well on course to surpass the output of last season, when he scored six goals and provided five assists in 36 appearances.

Faivre is extremely versatile, which will bode well for Milan. The bulk of his appearances come in left midfield and central midfield. He can also the attacking midfield and right midfield at a high level. Faivre is as creative as young talents get, which is something Milan is in dire need of.

Brahim Diaz is playing at a very high level for Milan this season at the attacking midfield position. The left midfielder position is a battle between Rafael Leao and Ante Rebic, both of which are also playing very well.

The right midfield position is the main question for Milan, which is likely where Faivre falls in place. The Rossoneri currently have Alexis Saelemakers in that position, and although he’s solid option, the Belgian is more of an ideal option off the bench, however, which likely has Milan thinking of finding a better option to start.

Milan, as seen in their squad, definitely opts for youth. They can develop youth quite well, but also target those who are already performing at a high level. Faivre certainly fits this mould, so it’s no surprise that the club and player are both very interested.
