RB Leipzig are closing in on the signing of highly-rated Barcelona midfielder Ilaix Moriba. According to Fabrizio Romano, Leipzig agreed on personal terms with the 18-year-old La Masia graduate weeks ago.

Barcelona have been keen to sell Moriba this summer. The 18-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract, had rejected several contract offers from the Catalan giants. The Blaugrana are keen on selling the midfielder this summer rather than losing the player for free at the end of next season. The young midfielder is not short on suitors with a host of clubs looking to sign the exciting talent.
RB Leipzig look to be leading the race to sign the talented midfielder this summer. The German outfit have reached an agreement to sign the 18-year-old on a five-year contract valid from June 2022. With less than two more days remaining in this transfer window, Moriba and his agent are pushing for a move from the Catalan capital this summer.
Despite agreeing personal terms with 18-year-old, RB Leipzig are yet to officially make a bid to Barcelona. The German club, at the moment, are keen on completing the sale of Marcel Sabitzer to Bayern Munich before entering into talks with Barcelona. With Sabitzer moving to Bayern Munich, Moriba could arrive as the replacement for the Austrian midfielder.
Over the last couple of seasons, RB Leipzig have developed into a fine finishing school for several young talents. Players like Dayot Upamecano, Timo Werner and Naby Keita have played for the club before securing big-money moves.
They still holds several promising young talents in their squad despite selling some of their key young players over the past couple of seasons. Dani Olmo, Dominik Szoboszlai, Konrad Laimer and Mohamed Simakan are among the few young stars still playing for the club.

Tottenham Hotspur are now out of the race to sign Ilaix Moriba from Barcelona. According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are currently not in negotiations with Barcelona or the player’s agent regarding a potential deal for the 18-year-old midfielder.
