Super Six for La Liga Side

Whilst Barcelona are struggling to come to terms with the departure of Lionel Messi to Paris Saint-Germain as they try to balance their books and avoid financial implosion, and Real Madrid also battle dire financial issues, one club making a splash in the summer window is Sevilla.

The club have now added Dortmund and Denmark midfielder Delaney to their ranks with Sevilla expected to pay €6 million on a contract to run until either 2024.

Sevilla and Thomas Delaney Looking to Make Further Progress

Sevilla finished the 2020/21 La Liga season in fourth place, comfortably ahead of fifth placed Real Sociedad by 15 points. They now feel that this could be a season where they can capitalise on the turmoil taking place in the Spanish and Catalan capitals respectively, with a realistic chance of attacking the title in true underdog style.

Sevilla have played two games of the 2021/22 La Liga season so far and sit at the top of the table. They are a team worth taking a chance on and certainly not worth ruling out as potential title challengers.

The Super Six

As Delaney becomes that sixth summer signing, the other players already brought in have been Marko Dmitrovic, Erik Lamela from Tottenham Hotspur, Gonzalo Montiel, Ludwig Augustinsson and Rafa Mir, and the spending may not be done yet with Jules Kounde rumoured to be leaving for Chelsea, meaning another centre-back may well be on the cards as well.

It has been a busy window for Sevilla and, now, they will look to turn that into success on the pitch.
