Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 Gameweek Two Preview

Fantasy Premier League 2021/22

Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 gameweek two kicks off this Saturday as Liverpool take on Burnley at Anfield. Gameweek one was a really enjoyable one with lots of goals and amazingly, no draws. Let’s hope things continue to be interesting this week.

Quick Tips

Things are heating up on the transfers front as the transfer window deadline approaches. Some significant moves could take place which might affect the starting status of many players. Even if one has not started well, it would be crucial to have that wildcard in hand at least till the transfer window has closed. There are rumours linking a return for Jesse Lingard to West Ham United. That could affect Saïd Benrahma who was brilliant in gameweek one.

Goalkeepers

One should not waste a transfer on a keeper at this stage of the season. Liverpool and Manchester City look good for keeping a clean sheet this week. However, Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa have decent fixtures on paper.

Defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold is probably the best option on paper from the defenders this week. A clean sheet is possible with an attacking return likely as well. Konstantinos Tsimikas should keep his place as Andrew Robertson is unlikely to return in time. Burnley conceded both goals down their left-hand side in the opening game which augurs well for Alexander-Arnold.

Luke Shaw disappointed his FPL owners massively last week. Things should be better this time around for the most popular defender on the game as he returns to his old club Southampton. The Saints looked rather shaky last Saturday against Everton and Manchester United are expected to get all three points.

It is difficult to predict the starting lineup for Manchester City so it is probably better to avoid their defenders at this stage of the season.

It is prudent to keep your transfers at this stage of the season especially for defenders but those with Joel Veltman might consider Shane Duffy.

Midfielders

Mohamed Salah has a brilliant record at home and he should be extra motivated in front of a full Anfield. He is a brilliant pick and the best choice for the armband as well. Besides, as mentioned above, Burnley conceded both goals down their left-hand side in the opening game. That should help FPL owners make up their decision about captaincy this week.

Bruno Fernandes started the season with a sublime hattrick. If Paul Pogba can produce displays like last week, the Portuguese should score a lot of goals. Southampton look there for the taking. Mason Greenwood should continue up front and is a good pick also.

West Ham were really impressive going forward last week. Saïd Benrahma had a great game. The Hammers fans would want the Algerian to hit a level of consistency that was missing from his game last season.

One might want a Manchester City midfielder to take advantage of the juicy home fixture against Norwich City. Kevin De Bruyne is probably the best one to take but he costs a lot. Jack Grealish, Ferran Torres and Riyad Mahrez are all good-looking picks whereas Ilkay Gundogan is a doubt. One just has to pick one and keep his fingers crossed that he gets a start.

Strikers

Michail Antonio had a brilliant start to the season and will hope to continue in that trend this week. However, it won’t be easy against Leicester City.

Newcastle United conceded a lot of chances in gameweek one. That should bode well for Danny Ings who was rather lucky to get a debut goal for Aston Villa last week.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison will be encouraged by the Leeds United display last week. Everton‘s style of play looks different this season under Rafa Benitez which might help Calvert-Lewin a lot.
