Inter Milan Sign Edin Dzeko

The Striker Arrives as the Replacement for Romelu Lukaku

Edin Dzeko is finally an Inter Milan player. The Bosnian has officially completed his move from AS Roma on a free transfer that will see Roma get €1.5 million if the Nerazzurri qualify for Champions League next season. He has signed a two-contract with the reigning Serie A winners that keep him at the club until 2023.

Dzeko has been one of the prolific strikers in Serie A during the last few seasons. Since joining Roma in 2015, the Bosnian has scored 85 league goals in 199 matches for the Giallorossi. Inter Milan will be hoping to see Dzeko replicating that form following their loss of last season’s top scorer Romelu Lukaku.

What Was Said?

Talking to the club website, Dzeko said: “It feels great to be here. I’m thrilled. This is a great opportunity for me and I want to thank the coach and the directors for showing so much faith in me and believing I can still make a difference. Inter are a huge club, the champions of Italy, and I’ve seen what they’re about during my six years in Serie A. Now I’ll get to play for them myself and I’m delighted. I can’t wait to get out there with my new teammates. I’ve only just arrived but I know Inter have a team full of stars. I’m sure we’ll enjoy ourselves and the fans will too. A big hello to all of them. I’ll give my all for this club.”

Talking about his new manager, Dzeko said: “I spoke to him and we joked about it. He said, ‘At last we’re not on opposite sides!’ We’ve gone up against each other many times and I’m happy to work with him because he showed what he’s capable of at Lazio. I’m looking forward to training with him.”
