Real Mallorca have officially announced the signing of Takefusa Kubo on a season-long loan from Real Madrid. The Japan international made his European debut during his first loan spell with the club.

Fourth Successive Loan Spell for Kubo

The move sees Kubo return to Mallorca on loan for the second time in his career. He had spent the 2019/20 season on loan with Los Piratas. This is the fourth successive loan move for the winger who joined Real Madrid in 2019.

Kubo is one of the biggest young prospects in world football. He was a regular in the Mallorca first-team squad during his first spell with the club. He made 36 appearances, including 24 starts, in all competitions during the 2019/20 season. He was the joint-third highest appearances maker for Los Piratas and finished the season with four goals and five assists. Despite Kubo’s impressive performances, Real Mallorca failed to avoid relegation that season.

A Difficult Season Ahead for Real Madrid

After 16 years, Real Madrid will start a new season without Sergio Ramos. To make matters worse, his defensive partner Raphael Varane has also left the club, joining Manchester United. Before the start of the new season, Real Madrid have been left searching for a new central defensive pairing. The end of last season also saw club icon Zinedine Zidane leaving the club.

In contrast, their cross-city rivals, Atletico Madrid, have strengthened ahead of the new season. The defending champions have added Copa America winner Rodrigo De Paul from Udinese to improve their midfield. Los Rojiblancos are also expected to make a signing or two before the end of the summer.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, have added just David Alaba to their squad. Their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe has seen Perez neglecting several other key additions to the squad. The approach has handicapped new manager Carlo Ancelotti.
