Harry Kane Set to Face Fine for Missing Tottenham Training

Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane is set to face a large fine after not reporting back to the club for the start of his pre-season training, reports Dan Kilpatrick of The Standard.

The club’s vice-captain was due back for Covid testing and the start of his pre-season following an extended break after his exploits at Euro 2020 with England.

However, he failed to show up amid increasing interest from Manchester City over his transfer and the club feel that they have no option but to issue the fine for breach of contract.

Reasoning Behind His No-Show

It’s thought that Kane’s non-appearance is due to his desire to force a move away from the club to Manchester City.

There is supposedly a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ between himself and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy that Kane could leave the club if a significant bid came in for him.

Spurs have already turned down a bid for Kane from City.

Kane has not communicated his reasons for missing training to Spurs, although the intense speculation around his future will no doubt have added further fuel to the rumours of City’s chase.

Tottenham value their star man at around £150 million, although City are said to be more willing to do a player + £100 million deal. Any such player would have to be someone Spurs would be willing to sign, though.

Spurs do not want to sell Kane to a Premier League rival, but the England captain wants to stay in the country.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Spurs are desperate to keep the striker but that he wants to play Champions League football this season. Spurs will be playing in the newly-formed Europa Conference League.

If Spurs change their position at any point, then City will be ready to re-open talks to sign Kane.
