Manchester United Facing Decisive Week in Raphael Varane Transfer

Raphael Varane transfer

According to Mohamed Bouhafsi, Manchester United have started negotiations with Real Madrid for a potential Raphael Varane transfer. The two have reportedly been in talks for several hours with this week thought to be decisive if any deal is to happen.

The summer window has so far seen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer get what he wants. He wanted Jadon Sancho, he got him; he wanted a new contract, he got it. Now, he wants Varane and he may very well get him if the continuous trend is anything to go by.

Raphael Varane Transfer Facing Decisive Week

The Player to Propel United Into the Title Race

Signing Jadon Sancho is undoubtedly a big deal. He will take United to the next level going forward, but in the famous words of their very own legend, Sir Alex Ferguson, attack wins you games, defence wins you titles. You can’t help but feel as though Varane would finish Solskjaer’s quest for silverware.

The doubters have silenced themselves since Harry Maguire’s stellar display at Euro 2020, but the jury’s still out on Victor Lindelof. The Swede remains the weakest link in United’s backline. No matter the improvements around him, you can’t help but feel as though he’s a liability.

They have Luke Shaw offering support in both thirds of the pitch on one side with Aaron Wan-Bissaka keeping the door of attacking opportunities locked on the other and Harry Maguire leading in the middle. Add Varane instead of Lindelof to that setup, and you’ve got yourself a backline worthy of the Premier League title.

With an array of attacking talents to choose from already, United must focus on the one missing piece in their backline; they must shift their focus onto completing the Raphael Varane transfer. Then, and only then, will people begin to recognise them as potential title winners.
