Inter Milan CEO Issues Hands-Off Warning Over Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku

Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta has claimed that Romelu Lukaku is “untouchable” for them and will not be leaving the club this summer, in an interview with Mediaset.

Inter Milan CEO Does Not Want to Sell Romelu Lukaku

Several Sides Interested in Inter Striker Romelu Lukaku

The striker has been the subject of some interest so far during this transfer window, with several sides on the hunt for new strikers ahead of the coming campaign. Chelsea, his former club, and Manchester City have both been rumoured to have an interest in the Belgian’s services but Inter Milan clearly don’t want to let him leave anytime soon.

Marotta claimed to Mediaset: “Romelu Lukaku is untouchable for us this summer, absolutely. He’s a key player.”

That he is for the Italian side. The striker certainly has a claim to not only be one of the best forwards in Serie A right now but the world.

In the 2020/21 season, he helped fire his side to the league title with 24 goals and 11 assists in 36 games. Lukaku had an absolutely unbelievable record of at least 1.09 goals or assists per 90 minutes. He was guaranteed to do one or the other every time he played.

Superb Goalscoring Record in Italy

Even in his first year with Inter, he managed a superb total of 25 goal contributions in 36 games and he seems to keep getting better and better. It’s no wonder that so many sides are considering big moves for him this transfer window – and it’s also no wonder that the Serie A side are desperate to keep hold of him.

At 28-years old, he’s also still in the prime years of his career but has been firing in the goals on a regular basis since he was as young as 16. When he began his career as a teenager for Anderlecht, he managed 14 goals in 32 games despite his tender age.

After impressing in his native country, he was snapped up by Chelsea and sent out to West Bromwich Albion, where he continued to fire it in frequently. For the then Premier League side, he managed 21 goal contributions in 35 games despite being just 19-years old.

Joining Everton, he then managed at least ten goals a season for them every year that he played for the Toffees before being sold on to Manchester United.

Although he never managed to secure a top tier title with the Red Devils, it wasn’t for lack of trying. With 23 goal contributions in 34 games, his side finished second. A year later, they dropped to sixth but he still managed to contribute with 12 goals despite only starting 22 games that campaign.

Inter Want to Keep Romelu Lukaku as He is a Natural Goalscorer

It goes to show that goals are certainly in Lukaku’s nature. If you want a forward who can guarantee you at least ten goals a season (something he has managed every season since his West Brom days) then he’s your man.

He’s a proven goalscorer and a natural finisher and if Inter Milan can keep hold of the player, then they’ll be sure to be up at the top end of the table again in the 2021/22 season. With a record like his though, it’ll be a difficult task for the Italians to try and hold onto one of their star players.
