Raphael Varane Positive COVID-19 Test Hands Liverpool Boost

Raphael Varane Positive COVID-19

The Raphael Varane positive COVID-19 test hands Liverpool a major advantage ahead of the Champions League quarter-final clash in Madrid. The Home side were already without captain Sergio Ramos, and it was Varane who was expected to step up.

Instead, others must do the Frenchman’s job to prevent Liverpool from ending the tie in one night. The Reds have done it to sides in the past. And with Madrid’s potential vulnerability at the back, they could do it again.

Following the 3-0 triumph of Arsenal, the Liverpool forwards will be more than confident of adding to their respective tallies. Diogo Jota, in particular, is in ruthless form in front of goal and will be happy to take advantage of Real Madrid’s misfortune.

Advantage Liverpool

The positive COVID-19 test for Varane has handed Liverpool a much-needed upper hand. April has already seen the Reds regain momentum in the Premier League. A win in Madrid would leave them with one leg already in the semi-finals.

They are perfectly capable of defeating the La Liga side, too. At their best, Liverpool are one of the best sides in Europe. Without Virgil van Dijk, they are vulnerable at the back. But the newfound partnership of Ozan Kabak and Nat Phillips has three clean sheets in three games.

The newly formed pairing alongside a midfield consisting of Thiago and Fabinho has handed Liverpool a platform to finally gain momentum. A win over Real Madrid would cap off the perfect week after a win over Arsenal saw them go within three points of the top four.

Finally, it seems like luck is falling the way of Jurgen Klopp, who will be desperate to turn this season around- starting in tonight’s clash in Spain. Liverpool will have vengeance in mind, and it may well be vengeance that occurs.
