Quick Tips

With players coming back from international duty, a few problems might arise, especially with COVID. Pay close attention to team news and have at least two playing options on the bench.

Goalkeepers

Edouard Mendy is definitely the best choice on paper this week. Chelsea have been very solid under Thomas Tuchel and have kept four clean sheets in a row. Opponents West Bromwich Albion struggle a lot in front of goal and have scored only once in the last five. Chelsea have a nice run of fixtures till the end of the season as well so Mendy could be a good option for the rest of the season.

Emiliano Martínez has a decent fixture this week as well. However, Fulham will be desperate to get a result at Villa Park so it won’t be easy for the Argentine. The potential is there for him to get a good return though.

One could consider Illan Meslier as well who has a great chance to keep a clean sheet against Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United.

Defenders

As stated above, Chelsea possess a brilliant defensive record. Their defenders are all worthy options. César Azpilicueta and Antonio Rüdiger are the safest choices. Marcos Alonso has a very good chance to start this Saturday for ChelseaBen Chilwell played the whole game for England on Wednesday night so Thomas Tuchel might decide to go with Alonso for this one. He has shown his attacking prowess over the years and against defensive-minded teams like West Brom, he will roam forward quite a lot – an attacking return is also quite possible. One could take a punt on Alonso. There is a very good chance of a high return.

Lucas Digne is a good option this week against goal-shy Crystal Palace. However, Everton’s poor home record will worry his FPL owners.

Stuart Dallas has a decent chance of a clean sheet as well.

Those holding Manchester City defenders might consider selling them for Chelsea defenders this week. City have all but wrapped up the title and Pep Guardiola have rotated them in every game. With the Champions League around, this seems to be a good time to move away from their players. Luke Shaw is also a decent option to replace them as he’s been in great form.

Midfielders

Bruno Fernandes has an excellent record against this week’s opponents, Brighton. He has scored three goals in two matches against the Seagulls. Manchester United have won the last five matches against them as well.

Brighton’s possession-based style should suit the Red Devils as they can pick them off on fast counters. Fernandes is a brilliant captaincy option this week.

Raphinha has performed very well in recent weeks and got himself a goal last week too. Rock-bottom Sheffield United seem to be great candidates for Leeds United to dominate.

However, this is a Yorkshire derby and despite the Blades’ abysmal position on the points table, they have fought hard in matches. They have won on both of their last two visits to Elland Road as well. So, a tight game could be in prospect.

Mason Mount should be considered as a consistent performer. He has a great fixture this week. Kai Havertz has played as the striker in recent weeks and could be a decent option also.

Diogo Jota and Jesse Lingard are in form but have tricky fixtures to navigate this week.

Strikers

Harry Kane is perhaps the best candidate for the armband this week on paper. Tottenham Hotspur have a great fixture this week and should get the three points. However, Newcastle’s defensive approach could prove to be a problem.

Earlier in the season, Steve Bruce’s men managed a 1-1 draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The availability of Son Heung-min should return which should help Kane. On a positive note, Kane scored a brace last time he played at St. James’ Park. So, overall Kane is a very strong contender for the armband.

Patrick Bamford has done better away from home this season but this week his FPL owners will expect a big score from him against rock-bottom Sheffield United.

The frustrating Ollie Watkins should feel confident after scoring on his debut for England during the International break. The potential return of Jack Grealish should help him also.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also a good option this week against a Crystal Palace side that tend to give away headed chances.
