Ben Davies Completes Liverpool Move

Liverpool Davies

Preston North End defender Ben Davies has officially completed a move to Liverpool that could be worth in the region of £2 million, North End have confirmed.

The deal also sees young Liverpool centre-back Sepp van den Berg move the other way on loan for the rest of the season.

The news of the signing will be music to the ears of those around Liverpool who were set for a period without a recognised first-team central defender but for the signing of Davies.

Many were worried that Liverpool would fail to secure a signing, but, as the deadline approaches, they have secured their man.

Much-Needed Reinforcement

With recent wins over Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, Liverpool have endured somewhat of a resurgence in recent weeks, but, with Joel Matip and Fabinho suffering injuries, the need for a centre-back was more desperate than ever.

Davies arrives from the Championship, and many will be quick to question his quality, but beggers cannot be choosers. And, in Liverpool’s case, anyone would have done.

Now, with Davies in, the anxiety of searching for a makeshift backline is gone and Liverpool finally have a recognised centre-back. The influence of Henderson can now return in midfield as Jurgen Klopp’s side look to get themselves back into the title race.

Davies Arriving at Perfect Time

With Liverpool back in form, Davies arrives at the perfect time. The Reds’ mood, in their entirety, will be far better than a week ago when form and goals were hard to come by.

Now, with back-to-back wins and a centre-back secured, Liverpool will enter an important period with plenty of confidence. Perhaps the signing of Davies- which allows Henderson back into midfield- will be the difference maker between a top-four battle and a title tace at Anfield.

For £2 million, the defender could turn out to be a bargain.
