Chelsea Manager Thomas Tuchel Can Get the Best Out of Several Key Players

Thomas Tuchel Chelsea

After a very tumultuous couple of days at Chelsea which culminated in the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as manager, he comes with quite a job on his hands. However, if he can get it right, the sky is the limit for this squad.

With some key players underperforming this season, Tuchel could be the perfect man to get them, and Chelsea’s season, back on track.

Newfound German Connection at Chelsea

With the sheer amount of money spent on luring Timo Werner and Kai Havertz to the club, it’s really no surprise that Chelsea opted to bring in a German manager. Tuchel learned his trade in the Bundesliga, and he will surely be a huge help to the pair in helping them adjust to the Premier League.

Werner has only scored one goal in his last 16 games, and that was a tap-in against League Two side Morecambe. Havertz has not impressed either, with just one goal in the league for him so far.

While Frank Lampard was able to get the best out of the academy players who grew up idolizing him, Werner and Havertz were different. The best players want clear tactical instructions from their manager, and Lampard clearly wasn’t much of a tactician.

Tuchel clearly is a tactician, though, and a Bundesliga-based tactician at that. Therefore, if anyone can get the best out of Werner and Havertz this season, it’s him. If Tuchel does get them firing, there’s no understating just how crucial it could be for Chelsea’s season.

Long-Standing Relationship With Young American Phenom

Although he looked up to Lampard and always spoke very highly of him, Christian Pulisic will undoubtedly be delighted that Thomas Tuchel is taking over at Chelsea. Tuchel, of course, is the man who gave the youngster his debut, and the man who set him on the path to stardom.

Pulisic made his breakthrough at Borussia Dortmund in 2015 under his current boss, and he values all that Tuchel has done for him.

“I’m just very thankful for everything he [Tuchel] did for me,” he said back in 2017. “Tuchel always trusted me and gave me a chance.”

It’s no secret that Pulisic has had a poor start, especially judging by his spectacular performances in the restart. However, much like the German duo, Tuchel can get the best out of him, and Chelsea fans should be excited to see him reach new heights reunited with his former manager.

While a club legend like Lampard being sacked in such a manner is very unfortunate, fans can look forward to a new era. Hopefully for Chelsea, that new era involves getting the best out of some key players, which new manager Thomas Tuchel will certainly back himself to do.
