Moussa Dembele Completes Atletico Madrid Move

Dembele Atletico move

Atletico Madrid have officially completed a move for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele on an initial loan with an option to buy a deal. The Frenchman will act as a replacement for the departing Diego Costa and will provide backup to Luis Suarez.

The news comes after various reports suggested it was Willian Jose who Atletico were considering, but, as it turns out, they have moved for Dembele instead.

Dembele Needed Move

The reported move should hand Dembele the opportunity to rediscover his best form. So far this season, the 24-year-old has scored just the one time in 16 Ligue 1 appearances after scoring on 24 occasions in 46 games last season.

The drop in form was an unforeseen one. Many believed the Frenchman would go on to reach greater heights this campaign instead of falling away from his best form.

Dembele must find his goalscoring boots once more. From Simeone’s point of view, he’ll know that the talent is there; it is just about unlocking it.

If Atletico can get the best out of Dembele, they’ll undoubtedly pursue the option to buy at the end of the season.

Lyon Leading the Way in France

Despite Dembele’s exit, Lyon shouldn’t struggle for form as they aim to finally dethrone Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1. As it stands, Lyon lead the chasing pack by one point having already defeated PSG this season.

Dembele’s aforementioned poor form means the French club will not miss the forward, but perhaps excel further towards Ligue 1 glory.

With the likes of Memphis Depay and Houssem Aouar in the side, too, there may be no stopping Lyon from pulling off the surprise of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino, in pursuit of his first title as a manager, will undoubtedly do his best to keep PSG’s tag as the kings of France- stopping Lyon in the process.
