Carlton Morris Loan Spell at MK Dons Cut Short By Norwich City

Carlton Morris

Carlton Morris has returned to Norwich City from his loan spell at League One side MK Dons. Morris was due to stay with the Dons until the end of the season but is now expected to complete a permanent move away from the Canaries in this window.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Norwich’s Championship rivals Barnsley.

He leaves the Dons having scored four goals in 24 appearances this season.

A Year With the Dons

Morris originally joined MK Dons in the last January window, helping them to secure survival in League One before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He formed a good partnership with goalscorer Rhys Healey, but when he departed for Toulouse in the summer, veteran striker Cameron Jerome joined to partner the Norwich loanee up front.

While Morris’ work rate and team play has been praised, his goal record was questioned on several occasions.

In his first loan spell, he managed two league goals in ten appearances and notched three in 18 this season.

His only other strike this season came in the 3-2 win away at Stevenage in the Papa John’s Trophy.

Championship Move Likely

Despite his low scoring record, Morris has repeatedly been linked with a move to Barnsley ahead of this transfer window.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, it is expected that Norwich re-called Morris so that they could sort out a permanent move away from the club.

Since coming through the academy, he has only made one appearance for the first-team and had eight separate loan spells with seven different teams.
