Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 14 Preview

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 14 is almost upon us as the plethora of Premier League football continues. There is a Saturday deadline for this gameweek with a full round of fixtures.

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 14 Picks

Goalkeepers

Emiliano Martínez has kept four clean sheets away from home this season and could keep another this week at West Bromwich Albion.

Owners of Alex McCarthy could reap the rewards if Manchester City have one of those days at St Mary’s Stadium.

Defenders

Tariq Lamptey picked up a clean sheet on Wednesday night and has another decent fixture this weekend against rock-bottom Sheffield United. The goal-shy Blades will be desperate for the three points which should provide opportunities for Brighton & Hove Albion to do well offensively as well.

Burnley have mostly struggled this season but, despite that, they have kept four clean sheets so far. At home, they do have a shot at keeping a clean sheet this week against Wolverhampton Wanderers. One could look at Matthew Lowton and Charlie Taylor as cheap options. The Clarets have some nice fixtures coming up as well.

A clean sheet may not be possible but Ben Chilwell could still do well offensively.

Aston Villa defenders could be considered as they have a decent clean sheet chance against West Brom.

Midfielders

Son Heung-min continued his stellar form this season with another goal at Anfield on Wednesday night. The South Korean has now scored 11 goals this season. Leicester City are a decent side but do not have a good record against Spurs. In fact, the Foxes have lost in each of their last three visits to Tottenham Hotspur. Son’s record against Leicester is strong, with four goals and three assists in nine appearances.

Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah are both facing tricky away fixtures this week. Salah is in good form with three goals in his last three matches so he remains a good candidate for the armband. De Bruyne has blanked in the last two games and Manchester City have become rather inconsistent this season. Southampton could cause the Citizens some problems but this should be an entertaining game. Riyad Mahrez could come back into the starting lineup after being rested midweek.

Bruno Fernandes should be a strong contender for the armband this week as he faces Leeds United at home. The Roses rivalry used to be huge, but without fans present, it may not be so heated this time. The way Leeds play could provide opportunities for Fernandes to score some nice points.

The West Midlands derby will be the first match for the new manager of West Bromwich Albion, Sam Allardyce. It will not be an easy debut for Big Sam as Aston Villa will love to heap more misery on the Baggies. Jack Grealish could do well especially if Ross Barkley returns from injury.

An improving Fulham side will look for all three points against Newcastle United. Ademola Lookman has been quite impressive at times for the Cottagers and he might trouble the Magpies this week.

Strikers

Harry Kane‘s record against Leicester City is simply astonishing. Kane has scored 14 goals in 10 appearances against the Foxes in the Premier League. In fact, he scored twice in this corresponding fixture last season which was also without fans attending. One should not bet against a record this good and get him in. He is a very strong candidate for the captaincy as well.

Arsenal have been struggling this season and will be without key defender Gabriel Magalhães this week. Dominic Calvert-Lewin could definitely profit from this.

Callum Wilson has a good home fixture against Fulham this week. However, the Cottagers are playing rather well these days so this may not be the easiest game for Newcastle United. Wilson is a decent option regardless.

Ollie Watkins and Timo Werner are also worth considering.
